Fall Play

LHHS Theatre's first production of the year,
Piece of My Heart, performs Wednesday 10/8 @ 7 pm,
Thursday 10/9 @ 7 pm and Saturday 10/11 @ 2 pm and 7
pm.
Tickets may be purchased at the door. Student tickets are
$5. Adult tickets are $10. Discounted tickets will be
available for the Saturday matinee show.

Class
News
Theatre I
(Bogner): Students are learning Pantomime
techniques through various class exercises. They will pair up in the
upcoming week and create a Duet Pantomime scene, which will
eventually be performed for their first major grade of the 2nd Six
Weeks.
Theatre I (Stephens): For
the first semester, Mr. Stephens Theatre I students are learning
basics of technical theatre, such as set construction.
Theatre II (Bogner): Students
recently explored scenework from Shakespearean plays, such as
Macbeth, The Tempest and Hamlet. They
learned about basic Shakespearean poetic structure (iambic
pentameter) the importance of movement in his plays, and how to make
those choices..
This week, students will learn how to
apply basic stage make-up and practice applying character make-up
techniques on their class partners, such as Old Age, Drunk,
Animal and Wounds.
Theatre III-IV
(Stephens): Advanced theatre students are rehearsing the
Fall Play, Piece of My Heart. The show opens in
October.
After Piece of
My Heart closes, students will begin rehearsing for the annual
Christmas play during class time.
Technical Theatre (Stephens): Tech
students have built the set for Piece of My Heart. They are
currently painting the set, hanging and focusing lights, and
coordinating sound and light cues.
After the fall
play closes, students will strike the set for Varsity
Revue. Then construction will begin for the
musical.
Club Night
LHHS hosted their annual
Club Night last week. High schoolers had the opportunity to
check out what different extracurricular organizations at LHHS had
to offer. Several signed up for further information on our
Theatre Club: The International Thespian
Society.

interested. Thanks to the ITS Officers for manning the booth
and recruiting!
