Theatre and Tech classes are
typically 15-30
students
in each class
period. Lake
Highlands High
School offers
Theatre Arts
I,
II,
III-IV, and Tech Theatre
I,
II, and
III-IV. Each
course
lasts one year
long. To
graduate
high school,
Richardson
ISD
requires one
Fine Arts
credit.
Theatre
Arts I:
an
introduction into
theatre.
Units, such as Improvisational
Acting,
Pantomime, Staging,
Basics of Acting, Theatre
History, Monologues,
Costuming and Duet
Acting Scenes are
covered.
Theatre
Arts
II: focuses
on advanced acting
technique,
including
college level
theories
of Sanford
Meisner,
Constantin
Stanislavsky,
Rudolf
Laban, Lee
Strassburg.
Advanced
playwriting is also
covered. This
class
is more rigorous
and requires Instructor
Approval.
Theatre
Arts
III-IV:
primarily a production
class. Continues acting
training and also
involves
rehearsals
for
U.I.L.
One Act
play. Pre-requisites
for this course
are
Theatre
II and instructor
approval. Students
who sign up for this
course should be
committed to being
involved
with theatre
extra-curricularly.
Tech Theatre
I-IV:
students learn operation
of tools and stage
rigging,
build sets for
productions, design
and
hang
lights, as well as
design and operate
sound.
