A big Wildcat welcome to the newest member of the LHHS faculty, Eric Arpelar. "Mr. Big E", as his students call him, will serve as Technical Director for the theatre program. He earned a Master of Arts in Theatre from Texas Womans University in 2008, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Trevecca Nazarene University in 2001.
Mr. Arpelar (Chickasaw for "Apprentice or Helper") has previously taught as an Adjunct Professor with Navarro College, Waxahachie Global High School, De Zavala Middle School in Irving, and Galveston Ball High School. He also has experience as a producer, technician and A/V specialist.
One of his proudest professional accomplishments was winning the 5A UIL One Act Play contest as Technical Director for "Playboy of the Western World" in 2002. He's also got stories to share, working as a local crew member for bands such as The Blackeyed Peas, Aerosmith, Nine Inch Nails, U2, Destiny's Child, Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Green Day.
Mr. Arpelar has been married to his wife Medina for 10 years, and they have two children, Carissa (7) and Zane (4). He describes himself as an "eccentric stagehand carny who loves to teach theatre". When not doing theatre, he enjoys time with his family, golf, fantasy sports, going to the movies and exercising.
